OWASP DAY KL 2016 – Malaysia

OWASP Malaysia was hosted OWASP Day KL 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Nov. 15 to Nov. 17, 2016 and collaborate with UniKL-MIIT. The events gather OWASP leaders, security experts, executives, technical thought leaders, developers, scientists and researchers from Malaysia and around the world for in-depth discussions of cutting-edge application security issues.

The summit will draw participation from major Malaysia and global organizations across various verticals including government, information technology, services and consulting, telecommunications, finance, e-commerce, Internet, universities and research institutes. About 200 people attended the event. Owasp Day KL 2016 theme is “Empowering Knowledge Towards Security Readiness”.

Dirty COW Linux Vulnerability CVE-2016-5195

On October 19, 2016, a privilege escalation vulnerability in the Linux kernel was disclosed. The vulnerability nicknamed Dirty COW because of the issue copy-on-write (COW). Dirty COW has existed for a long time — at least since 2007 and the majority of servers are at risk now!
